Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) – International Service: In response to the continued escalation of brutal Zionist crimes against Lebanon—including the killing of dozens of citizens in just the past few days—the Lebanese Army Command issued a statement declaring that ongoing Israeli attacks threaten existing understandings and agreements, hinder the army's efforts to establish stability, and constitute a blatant violation of Lebanon's sovereignty and security.
The Lebanese Army Command added that halting Israeli aggression is a fundamental prerequisite for completing the army's deployment and fulfilling its duties under the framework agreement. The continuation and intensification of attacks by the Israeli occupiers—accompanied by demolition, destruction, and brutal bombardment of southern Lebanon—leave no room for doubt regarding their aggressive intentions.
The statement further notes that these Israeli acts of aggression contravene international law, threaten existing understandings and agreements, impede the army's efforts to establish stability, and constitute a clear violation of Lebanon's sovereignty and security.
The Lebanese Army Command emphasized that, since the signing of the framework agreement, the army has demonstrated its full readiness to fulfill its obligations and has initiated the necessary measures to establish operational control in the designated areas—in coordination with the Lebanese Military Coordination Group and in accordance with the plan prepared by the Army Command. According to the statement, the Lebanese Army's measures included "establishing six permanent checkpoints and thirteen observation posts on roads leading to the towns of Zoutar al-Gharbiya, Faroun, and Srifa, as well as within the towns themselves; conducting round-the-clock foot and motorized patrols; removing and confiscating weapons and unexploded ordnance; and preventing the presence of armed groups and unauthorized activities in accordance with Lebanese law."
The Lebanese Army Command stated that, as part of these operations, specialized military units confiscated quantities of light and heavy weapons. Army units also cleared roads spanning approximately twelve kilometers and inspected a number of homes in compliance with Lebanese law and with the owners' consent.
The Army Command announced that, alongside these operational measures, its units implemented procedures to facilitate the safe return of residents—including debris removal, road clearing, and civil-military cooperation initiatives aimed at providing essential services.
According to the statement, the Lebanese Army also assisted in recovering the bodies of the fallen and managed entry and exit within its operational zone. In the town of Zoutar al-Gharbiya, approximately 70 percent of residents were able to return and inspect their properties; however, only 16 percent—representing 60 out of 450 families—were able to settle there.
The Lebanese Army Command emphasized that Israeli occupying forces had completely destroyed 85 percent of the homes and partially destroyed 15 percent. Furthermore, it noted that since the signing of the framework agreement on June 26, Israeli occupying forces have failed to adhere to the agreement, with violations totaling approximately 7,700 incidents. The statement further emphasizes that Israeli occupation forces have repeatedly fired upon Lebanese Army personnel and patrols. The continuation of Israeli attacks and repeated ceasefire violations—particularly in recent days—have triggered a new wave of displacement from areas previously considered safe.
The Lebanese Army command also asserted that the Israeli occupiers aim to undermine the army's credibility, both domestically and before the international community. We reiterate that halting Israeli aggression and ending repeated ceasefire violations are essential for the Lebanese Army to complete its deployment and fulfill its duties in accordance with the framework agreement.
The information released by the Lebanese Army represents more than just field statistics regarding Israeli attacks; it is a stark reflection of the dire political situation in Lebanon. Officials who rushed to tout the "framework agreement" as a political and diplomatic triumph now find themselves helpless in the face of the daily destruction of southern villages as enemy attacks persist.
The Zionists display such audacity in direct negotiations with the Lebanese government that figures like Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz constantly speak of refusing to withdraw from even a single inch of Lebanese territory. Yet, simultaneously, they attempt to portray themselves as committed to negotiations with Lebanon, framing the process as a "political achievement" intended to bring about a comprehensive shift in the security landscape across the country.
However, the actions of the current Israeli cabinet effectively destroy any chance for the Lebanese government to present itself as having succeeded in liberating the south and repatriating its residents through negotiation and diplomacy rather than force.
