Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) – Kabul: In recent remarks, Zabihullah Mujahid emphasized that the Islamic Emirate’s approach to establishing official relations with nations worldwide is grounded in adherence to Islamic values and the rule of Sharia.
Mujahid stated: "We will not abandon the rule of Islamic Sharia in exchange for international acceptance or the establishment of official relations with Afghanistan."
He added that the Islamic Emirate seeks good and constructive relations with all countries, based on mutual respect, shared interests, and non-interference in each other's internal affairs.
In recent months, the Islamic Emirate has undertaken extensive efforts to expand economic and diplomatic ties with countries in the region and across the globe. Signing trade and security agreements with several Central Asian nations and holding joint economic meetings are part of these efforts.
It is worth noting that a number of regional countries—including China, Russia, Iran, Pakistan, and Central Asian states—have maintained limited diplomatic and economic relations with Kabul, and the scope of these interactions is currently expanding.
These remarks come as the Islamic Emirate has faced significant challenges in gaining international legitimacy since returning to power in 2021. The international community, particularly Western nations, has emphasized the necessity of respecting human rights—especially those of women and girls—forming an inclusive government, and severing ties with armed groups as key prerequisites for recognizing the Islamic Emirate. Assessments indicate that the international community—particularly Western nations—insists on the Islamic Emirate altering its policies regarding women's rights and the formation of an inclusive government; this issue has become a primary obstacle to the normalization of relations. Some experts believe that by adopting a balanced approach, the Islamic Emirate could pave the way for constructive engagement with the world while upholding religious values.
