NATO aircraft makes forced landing in E. Afghanistan

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA), International Service , 21 Jun 2012 - 16:12

A NATO aircraft made a forced landing in eastern Afghanistan on Thursday, causing no casualties, the military alliance said in a statement.

"An International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) aircraft made a forced landing in eastern Afghanistan today," and "All personnel on the aircraft were recovered and there were no civilian or ISAF fatalities," the NATO-led ISAF said in the statement.

The brief statement ruled out insurgent activities in the incident, saying "The ISAF is still in the process of investigating the incident to determine more facts; however, initial reporting indicates that there was no enemy activity in the area."

Militancy has been on constant rise since the Taliban launched its spring offensive on May 3 this year.

A total of five NATO helicopters have crashed so far this year, leaving over two dozens of NATO and U.S. soldiers dead. (Xinhua)
