Contradictions in US Speech and Behavior: Opportunity or Pressure?
While Iran has shown that it is ready to seek a balanced and fair agreement, US military movements around Iran, including the deployment of bombers and military exercises, show that the atmosphere for negotiations is still under the pressure of military threats and strong policies. US officials have clearly stated that “all options are on the table,” and this rhetoric, along with actions that seem more threatening than supportive of the talks, has created an atmosphere of contradiction and distrust.
Is real diplomacy on the way?
These contradictions raise serious questions about the true nature of these talks. Are these talks a real opportunity for peace and reconciliation or a tool for bargaining and putting pressure on Iran? If the US relies on its military and economic pressure from the very beginning instead of entering into honest talks, the outcome of these talks will certainly be difficult and may become a tool for legitimizing hostile and warmongering actions.
Afghanistan; in the shadow of war threats
Afghanistan, as a direct neighbor of Iran and a country that has deep ties with Iran on many regional issues, cannot be indifferent to the developments in these talks. If the talks lead to increased tensions between Iran and the United States, Afghanistan may indirectly enter a proxy war. This situation could put great human, economic, and social pressures on Afghanistan, especially if the United States uses its airspace for military operations against Iran. In such a situation, Afghanistan would not only be threatened in terms of security, but also migration and economic crises could put the country under severe pressure.
Afghanistan’s Active Responsibility in Regional Diplomacy
Afghanistan should avoid a policy of passive neutrality and actively understand and pursue its regional responsibilities. Although the country may wish to maintain its independence, indifference to major regional developments could have many negative consequences for Afghanistan. The Afghan media and intellectuals should prevent proxy wars and any military cooperation with the United States against Iran by providing accurate analysis and warning to the government and people.
The Need for Real Diplomacy to Prevent Disaster
Currently, the negotiating environment remains fraught with military threats and pressures, and there is a risk that talks will not only not lead to peace but will also become a tool for creating crisis. If the United States is seeking to achieve a lasting agreement and prevent war, it must reduce its pressure policies and move towards real diplomacy based on mutual respect and understanding of regional geopolitical realities. This means ending military threats and demonstrating the will to peacefully resolve disputes.
Concluding Remarks:
The indirect talks between Iran and the United States, although they appear to be a fragile opportunity to reduce tensions, are still overshadowed by military threats and political pressures. In this situation, to achieve a lasting agreement and prevent war, all parties, especially Afghanistan and the countries of the region, must understand their responsibilities and prevent any unnecessary crisis and war. A war between Iran and the United States, if it occurs, will not only not bring any desired outcome to either party, but could also have catastrophic regional and global consequences.
