Uzbek officials have announced the progress of the economic and technical studies of the Afghan-Trans corridor, describing the project as one of the most important strategic projects to connect Central and South Asia via Afghanistan.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Shahrukh Gulyamov, Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, announced that the economic and technical studies of the Afghan-Trans project have entered an active and practical stage, and these studies are expected to be completed by the end of this year.
He said at the second session of the Termez Dialogues that the design work of this major regional project has entered a new phase, and the preparation of feasibility studies, technical assessments and practical reviews are currently underway on a large scale.
Gulyamov considered the Afghan-Trans corridor one of the most important infrastructure and strategic projects in the region and emphasized that its implementation could play a significant role in developing economic connectivity, facilitating trade, and expanding transit cooperation between Central Asia and South Asia.
According to him, the geographical location of Afghanistan makes this country the main link of this project, and the Afghan-Trans corridor can provide new and shorter routes for transporting goods between the countries of the region and global markets.
The Uzbek official also stated that in the future, this project has the potential to become an extensive transport network within Afghanistan; a network that can, in addition to increasing Afghanistan's transit role, help develop infrastructure, create economic opportunities, and strengthen regional ties.
The Afghan-Trans project is one of the important regional projects designed to connect Central Asia to southern ports and open waters through Afghanistan. Economic experts believe that the completion of this corridor can further strengthen Afghanistan's position as a regional transit crossroads and pave the way for increased trade, investment, and economic cooperation between regional countries.
