Afghan and Iranian Agriculture Ministers Meet in Kabul; Emphasis on Expanding Strategic Cooperation in Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Mawlawi Attaullah Omari welcomed the Iranian delegation in this meeting, referred to the historical, cultural, and long-standing relations between the two countries, expressed sympathy in connection with past incidents and wars in Iran, and stated that Afghanistan stands by the Iranian nation and government in difficult circumstances.

 

The Minister of Agriculture, referring to the extensive capacities existing between the two countries, emphasized the need to expand practical and long-term cooperation in areas such as improved seeds, agricultural machinery, plant and animal health, livestock, dairy products, animal feed, agricultural research, irrigation, and technology transfer.

He also suggested that the technical delegations of the two countries begin working on the 16 agreements and commitments of the previous meetings and prepare the ground for their implementation.

 

Iran’s readiness for extensive agricultural cooperation was announced

In this meeting, Gholamreza Nouri Qeziljeh, Minister of Agricultural Jihad of Iran, also called for expanding cooperation between the two countries in various agricultural sectors, emphasizing the historical, cultural, linguistic, economic, and geographical ties between Afghanistan and Iran.

He stated that Iran is ready to cooperate with Afghanistan in the areas of animal health, meat and eggs, spices, agricultural machinery and equipment, fish farming, flour, food security, education, new agricultural technologies and irrigation.

The Iranian Minister of Agricultural Jihad also emphasized joint cooperation in the field of combating pests and diseases, preparing grains and flour, processing agricultural products, transferring knowledge and agricultural machinery, and providing safe food, adding that the development of these cooperation can provide employment for thousands of people.

During this meeting, the export of fresh goat and sheep meat from Afghanistan to Iran and the export of meat, eggs and chickens from Iran to Afghanistan were also discussed. The two sides emphasized the maximum use of existing capacities and taking practical measures to meet the needs of the two countries.

Meanwhile, the joint meeting between the two ministries was attended by Maulvi Zamir Osmani, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Maulvi Baz Mohammad Faizan, Deputy Minister of Irrigation and Natural Resources, and Maulvi Mahmood Mazloum, Head of the Land Department, from Afghanistan. On the Iranian side, Maryam Jalili Moghadam, Deputy Minister of Jihad Agriculture, Gholamreza Golmohammadi, Deputy Director of the Research and Education Organization, Alireza Bigdali, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kabul, and a number of officials from the agriculture and livestock sectors of the two countries participated.
