Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Qom: Seyed Isa Hosseini Mazari, head of the Tebyan Center for Cultural and Social Activities, visited the Ahlul Bayt (AS) News Agency in Qom and discussed with officials of this media outlet. He explained the latest developments in Afghanistan, the situation of the Shiite community, cultural and social challenges, and his approach to the current governance of the country.
In the meeting, which was held in the presence of Hassan Sadrai Arif, the managing director of ABNA News Agency, the two sides discussed and exchanged views on developments in Afghanistan, the situation of Shiites and clergy, the role of the media in social developments, and the need to strengthen unity among the followers of Ahlul Bayt (AS).
On the sidelines of the meeting, Hosseini Mazari, referring to the situation in Afghanistan over the past five years, stated that in the current situation, the country faces numerous opportunities and threats, and along with some problems, positive measures have also been taken in various fields.
He mentioned the Afghan government's attention to economic issues and the implementation of some infrastructure projects, the development of roads and cities, the fight against drugs, and ensuring security as positive measures, and said that compared to the current situation with the republic and the presence of foreign forces, significant changes have been made in the general situation of the country.
At the same time, the head of the Tebyan Center for Social and Cultural Activities considered the most important threat facing Afghanistan not to be external threats, but rather the possible dissatisfaction of the people, and emphasized the need for the government to move in the direction of increasing public satisfaction and strengthening its social base.
According to him, ensuring the citizenship rights of all Afghan citizens, observing social justice, creating employment, ensuring security, and balanced development of different regions, regardless of the ethnicity, language, or religion of the residents, are among the most important requirements for establishing political and social stability in the country.
Hosseini Mazari criticized some of the government's approaches in dealing with citizens and social institutions, saying that some of the existing problems are due to a lack of flexibility and, in some cases, an incorrect understanding or study of societal issues, and these issues can be resolved through dialogue and reforming approaches.
In this context, he criticized the closure or restriction of the activities of some Shiite educational and media centers, including Khatam al-Nabiyyin School and University and Tamadon TV, as well as some clashes during the Muharram and Ashura ceremonies, and stated that these measures could increase concern and dissatisfaction among a section of society.
The head of the Tebyan Center for Cultural and Social Activities also referred to the issue of towns that were built on usurped lands during the republican era and emphasized that if, after legal investigations, it is determined that the lands of a town were usurped, the government can determine its fate, but the rights of people who have purchased houses with documents should also be considered.
Stating that the existing problems are not unique to the Shiite community, he said: Some similar approaches may have affected other ethnic groups and groups, and the main issue is the need to pay more attention to citizen rights and increase flexibility in governance.
Hosseini Mazari continued, considering internal differences between Shiite movements and personalities as factors weakening the Shiite community and said that the lack of coordination between elites, scholars, personalities and movements has prevented the community from effectively utilizing its capacities to pursue its demands.
He emphasized the need to pursue demands through civil, peaceful channels and dialogue with government officials, adding that the Afghan Shiite community should pursue its issues with coherence, coordination and unity.
Referring to the status of the Shiite community in Afghanistan, the head of the Tebyan Center for Social and Cultural Activities stated that the country's Shiites are an active and influential community and the presence and role of millions of Shiite citizens cannot be ignored.
He called for the Afghan government's policy towards Shiites to be more transparent and said that the legal and citizenship status of Shiites and the extent of their presence in various fields should be clarified. According to him, the government should also take more serious measures in the field of recognizing and paying practical attention to the Shiite religion.
Emphasizing that the Afghan Shia community does not have a subversive approach towards the government, Hosseini Mazari stated that the country's Shiites are trying to solve their problems and demands through interaction and dialogue with the government.
He also emphasized supporting the principle of stability and the current structure of Afghanistan's government, saying that supporting the government does not mean defending all its functions and that reforms in the structure and method of governing the country are necessary.
Hosseini Mazari considered one of the most important reforms needed to be transforming the government into a comprehensive mirror of all citizens of the country, and stated that every Afghan citizen should be able to see himself in the structure of the government and feel that the government belongs to all the people of Afghanistan, not to a particular tribe, language, or group.
He also considered ensuring security and creating employment to be Afghanistan's basic priorities and emphasized that if security and economic prosperity are established, the scope for foreign powers to abuse Afghanistan's internal conditions will be reduced.
Referring to the presence of millions of Afghan citizens in Iran and the role of Afghan Shiites in defending the shrines of Ahlul Bayt (AS) in recent years, he said that the developments in Afghanistan are of special importance to ABNA.
Emphasizing the media outlet's approach towards Afghanistan, the Managing Director of ABNA stated that respecting the sovereignty and national security of this country is one of ABNA's news principles, and at the same time, the media outlet considers pursuing the rights of the followers of Ahlul Bayt (AS) in different countries as one of its duties.
Sadrai Arif also emphasized the need to strengthen the interactive approach in governing Afghanistan and increase interaction with the country's various ethnicities, religions, and movements, and said that the internal cohesion of the Afghan Shia community, among scholars, intellectuals, professors, elites, tribal elders, and the general followers of the Ahlul Bayt (AS), will be one of the important axes of ABNA's news activities.
Referring to the international capacities of ABNA News Agency, he added that this media outlet, as an international religious news agency, has on its agenda the expansion of news coverage of Afghanistan and the strengthening of activities related to this country.
In the continuation of this meeting, the situation of the Afghan Shia clergy, the experience of political movements in the past decades, political developments after the Islamic Emirate returned to power, and the role of the media in reflecting the issues of the Shia community were also discussed and exchanged.
In this section, Hosseini Mazari considered the current situation of the Shia clergy to require greater mobility and responsibility.
He also referred to the experience of civil wars and disputes among Shiite political movements in the past decades, emphasizing the need to learn from the past and avoid repeating disputes, and said that elites and figures in the Shiite community should create greater coordination and cohesion to solve existing problems.
In conclusion, the two sides emphasized the importance of continuing media communication and cooperation, strengthening coverage of developments in Afghanistan, and paying more attention to the issues of the country's Shiite community. Also, according to the decision of the parties, a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) and the Ahlul Bayt (AS) News Agency (ABNA) will be signed soon.
