Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) – Kabul: A press conference titled “Government in the Mirror of the Press” was held today, Monday, 16 Sanbal 1405 AH, with a speech and report by Maulvi Zabihullah Mujahid, the General Spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate.
According to information provided by Mr. Mujahid, in 1447 AH, the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development completed and commissioned 290 networks in the construction of water supply networks at a total cost of more than 1 billion 216 million 288 thousand Afghanis.
With the implementation of these projects, more than 590 thousand residents of rural areas have been provided with clean drinking water.
The construction of another 735 water supply networks is also on the agenda of this ministry.
Mr. Mujahid added that in the development projects sector, a total of 330 projects worth 2 billion 891 million 511 thousand 896 Afghanis have been implemented, which include the design and construction of 836 kilometers of rural roads, 1 thousand 64 meters of bridges and culverts, 2 thousand 390 meters of irrigation canals, and 4 thousand 851 meters of retaining walls.
Also, 298 infrastructure projects were completed in rural areas of the country last year and work is underway on 32 other infrastructure projects.
Providing services to returnees
The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development has also taken steps to provide facilities to returnees.
According to this information, 8 water supply networks have been constructed and put into operation at a cost of about 22 million Afghanis in Kunar, Laghman, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Balkh, Farah, Samangan and Logar provinces, benefiting about 4,600 returnee families.
Similarly, in Nangarhar, Herat, Kunduz, Baghlan, Faryab and Kabul provinces, the construction of 8 other water supply networks at a cost of more than 262,000 US dollars is underway by partner institutions, which, upon completion, will provide access to safe drinking water for 23,675 returnees.
Electricity services to more than 70,000 subscribers
In another part of the report by the government's public spokesperson, the achievements of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat were also presented.
According to the announced statistics, the company provided electricity services to a total of 70,653 subscribers in 1447 AH.
Of these, 61,600 were residential subscribers, 7,233 were commercial subscribers, 1,173 were subscribers of holy places, 542 were subscribers of government departments, and 105 were industrial subscribers.
During the same period, the Breshna Sherkat has completed 10 infrastructure projects and the implementation of 40 other projects is also underway.
The company has also signed 12 memorandums of understanding with companies and investors in the investment attraction sector, and the total value of the company's contracts with a number of companies in the electricity sector last year reached 74 billion Afghanis.
Through the implementation of Breshna Company's development projects, job opportunities have been provided directly and indirectly to more than 4,000 people.
