The United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) closed Sunday with a breakthrough agreement to provide “loss and damage” funding for vulnerable countries hit hard by climate disasters.
As world leaders meet Monday for climate talks in Egypt both the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) and the UN in Afghanistan called for urgent collective action in the country.
The White House said that, Joe Biden will attend next month’s COP27 United Nations climate summit in Egypt, vowing he would “highlight the need for the world to act.”
African ministers who met in Cairo two months before the start of the Cop27 climate summit have called for a sharp expansion of climate financing for their continent.
