Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): According to Al Jazeera, Tom Fletcher, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, said in a statement: Our humanitarian efforts in Gaza are justified by the increasing obstacles. Israeli (Zionist) soldiers fired more than 16 bullets at an international convoy at the checkpoint between the south and north of Gaza. 6 fuel tankers that entered through the Karm Abu Salem crossing were looted and now we have very little fuel to deliver aid.
He emphasized: Israel (the regime) bombed a vehicle that was protecting an international aid convoy. Israeli forces are unable or unwilling to ensure the security of our convoys in Gaza. The UN mission encountered Israeli soldiers in the Jabalia area who threatened patients and detained four of them, while their condition was critical. Our efforts to save the lives of the people of Gaza have reached a breaking point.
Fletcher added: “The people of Gaza have suffered displacement, hunger and widespread trauma for more than 14 months, with schools, hospitals and infrastructure destroyed. I call on UN member states to insist on the protection of all civilians and all humanitarian operations in Gaza.”
Recently, Philippe Lazzarini wrote in a message on the social media X: “All humanitarian workers are being targeted on a regular basis. This blatant disregard cannot become the new norm.”
Cindy McCain, executive director of the World Food Programme, said it was “completely unacceptable” that the Israeli army had again attacked a truck carrying humanitarian aid in Gaza.
The UN World Food Programme (WFP) said Israeli forces opened fire on its convoy in Gaza on Sunday in an incident it described as “horrific”.
The agency said three of its vehicles, carrying eight staff, were hit by 16 bullets near a Gaza checkpoint, but no one was injured.
The WFP said in a statement that the convoy was clearly marked and had received prior security clearance from Israeli authorities.
The Israeli army has repeatedly attacked aid convoys in the Gaza Strip, killing at least 12 people. The most recent incident occurred last month, when Israeli forces attacked Palestinian security guards escorting an aid shipment, killing at least 12 and wounding dozens.
The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has described the Israeli army's action in targeting a humanitarian aid convoy in Gaza as a war crime.
