Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Tehran: The unveiling ceremony for the addition of the drone carrier "Sardar Shahid Bahman Bagheri" to the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy was held in Bandar Abbas on Thursday, February 6, in the presence of Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Brigadier General Hossein Salami, Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and the Minister of Defense and Support of the Armed Forces.
According to Tasnim, the Shahid Bagheri ship is a mobile naval platform for carrying out drone and helicopter missions in the oceans, with the ability to carry several squadrons of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), land and take off unmanned fighter jets, carry and use various types of patrol and combat drones, launch and refloat various types of light and fast combat vessels, and also carry and use various types of combat and support helicopters.
With seaworthiness up to Force 9 (oceans) and an operational range of 22,000 nautical miles (offshore), this ship provides the ability to be present and conduct operations for a year without the need for refueling in distant waters. The Shahid Bagheri ship is equipped with a drone fueling and refueling station, floating and helicopter, short and medium range air defense systems, intelligence and flight control tower equipment, facilities for carrying and using various types of drones, guided subsurfaces, the ability to identify various types of electronic signals - electronic warfare - full signet, long-range surface-to-surface cannons and weapons, long-range surface-to-surface cruise missiles, the ability to deal with various types of small aircraft and air defense missiles. The ship is also equipped with a 180-meter runway.
In addition, the Shahid Bagheri ship has specialized hospital facilities including an operating room, a CCU intensive care unit, radiology, dentistry, and sports facilities including a multi-purpose sports hall, artificial turf field, and a gym.
The addition of this ship to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Navy fleet is an important step in increasing the country's defense and deterrence capabilities in the waters and maintaining the security of Iran's national interests.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, the Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps told reporters, referring to the US threats to attack the country: "We have been familiar with the enemies' threats to attack Iran's nuclear facilities for years and we always take them seriously, but more important than the threats is how we will respond to them in practice." Brigadier General Hossein Salami emphasized: "If any regime intends to violate our national interests, it will face a tough and decisive response; we have already proven our defense doctrine in practice. Anyone who threatens us will face tough, unexpected and unimaginable responses in terms of scope and intensity." He noted: "The reality is that we are stronger today than ever, and evidence of this power is in recent unveilings that show only a part of the power of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the IRGC."
