Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): A Sudanese military plane crashed on Tuesday in a residential area near the Wadi Saydna military airport in Khartoum state.

According to Reuters, more than 20 military and civilians died in the incident, including a senior military official.

Military sources have said that the plane most likely crashed due to technical problems. The Sudanese army also confirmed the deaths of civilians and several of its personnel in a statement on Tuesday, but did not provide further details of the accident.

A passenger plane crashed in South Sudan about a month ago, killing at least 18 passengers and crew.

Hours after the plane crashed, the Associated Press reported, citing Sudanese officials, that at least 46 people had died in the accident.
