Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Khalid bin Salman Al Saud, Saudi Defense Minister, arrived in Tehran today (Thursday) at the head of a high-ranking military delegation and was officially welcomed by Major General Mohammad Baqeri, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Developing defense relations and regional cooperation to strengthen peace and stability in the region, as well as combating terrorism, are among the topics of discussion between the two senior defense officials of Iran and Saudi Arabia in this meeting.
According to this report, last year, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Saudi Arabia also visited Tehran at the invitation of Major General Baqeri, and the visit of Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman is the second visit of this country's senior defense official to Iran.
Khalid, 37, is an air force pilot and has completed training courses in the United States. He is the younger brother of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Three sons of Saudi King Salman are in the government: Mohammed (Crown Prince and Prime Minister), Abdulaziz (Oil Minister), and Khalid (Defense Minister).
He was previously his country's ambassador to the United States and was then promoted to Deputy Defense Minister. Khalid was appointed Defense Minister in 2022.
Before Khalid, his older brother (Mohammed bin Salman) served as Defense Minister for 7 years and his father (King Salman) for 3 years.
