Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Thousands of Israelis demonstrated in Tel Aviv yesterday evening (Monday, April 22) against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's attempt to gain political control over the Shin Bet.
This spontaneous demonstration was held following the Shin Bet chief's speech in the Israeli Supreme Court in his defense in the hearing of his dismissal case by Netanyahu.
According to Israeli media reports, the police used force to disperse the demonstrators and arrested several of them.
The demonstration was attended by the head of the Mossad, the head of the Internal Security Council, a number of army officers with the rank of general, and the Shin Bet chief, along with the heads of opposition parties.
In this regard, Channel 12's judicial affairs reporter stated that the future Shin Bet chief who will replace Ronen Bar could tell the prime minister in a similar situation, right?
Netanyahu held a security meeting on Gaza last Sunday evening without inviting the Shin Bet chief.
The Shin Bet chief said in court: "I do not know what reasons led to my removal from office by the government."
He stated: "My removal from office was carried out by Netanyahu for personal reasons, not professional ones."
The Shin Bet chief stated: "Netanyahu asked me to activate the tools to block the path of the protests against him."
Ronen Bar stated: "Netanyahu asked me to provide information about the activists participating in the protests."
