Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi expressed his hope upon his arrival in the Indian capital, Abrar: India and Pakistan will use restraint to prevent escalation of tensions in the region.

He said: My visit to India is to establish a joint economic commission between the two countries, and this visit was planned long ago.

Araghchi continued: I am accompanied by officials from the country's economic ministries. During this visit, economic cooperation between the two countries, which has its own importance, will be examined and reviewed.

He added: "At the same time, we have always had political consultations with India on important regional and international issues, especially now that the conditions are more special, these consultations are taking a closer form and have new dimensions."

Araqchi noted: "I will meet with my counterpart during this trip and review regional issues. It is natural that we want to reduce tensions and we hope that the parties will prevent the escalation of tensions with the restraint they show."

Araqchi said: "Our region needs peace, especially to expand economic cooperation between the countries of the region and we hope that this will happen."

This is Araqchi's first visit to New Delhi after assuming the post of Iranian Foreign Minister. This week, he also made a one-day visit to Pakistan and met and talked with officials of that country.

According to political experts, Abbas Araqchi's immediate visit to India, after his recent visits to Pakistan, indicates the Islamic Republic of Iran's active efforts to play a mediatory role in one of the most tense parts of Asia. This diplomatic initiative comes at a time when some countries, such as Turkey and Azerbaijan, are openly supporting Pakistan and the Zionist regime is openly supporting India, which could further complicate the situation.

Iran’s move to pursue restraint and dialogue between the two regional nuclear powers is not only commendable, but also a serious effort to prevent the grave consequences of a conflict; consequences that would affect the daily lives of millions of people in India and Pakistan and threaten the stability and economy of the region. In such an environment, Iran’s active and impartial mediation is an opportunity to prevent the flaring up of the crisis.
