Ghani orders intervenes amid public dissatisfaction regarding telecom internet services
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with the officials of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the State-owned Afghan Telecom company amid public dissatisfaction regarding the quality and high prices of telecom internet services.

AVA- The Office of the President, ARG Palace, said the meeting was attended by the acting minister of communication and information technology as well as the officials of the Afghan Telecom company.

A statement by the ARG Palace said President Ghani informed the officials regarding the growing dissatisfaction by the public and government regarding the deteriorating quality and high prices of the telecom internet services.

He said the public and government staff and officials are not satisfied and instructed the relevant officials to take immediate steps to draft a plan and take immediate practical steps to resolve the issues.

The statement by ARG Palace further added that President Ghani instructed the Afghan Telecom officials to increase the quality of the services of the company, reduce the prices, and increase the capacity of the staff of the company to provide better services.

In the meantime, the officials in the ministry of communications and information technology said their preliminary research indicate that capacity and capabilities exist in the telecom sector for the internet and telecommunication services and efforts are underway for the better provision of services to the people, specifically focusing on the reduction of the prices of internet services by the telecom companies.
