Ex-Afghan spy chief accuses Hamid Gilani of having links with Haqqani network
A former head of Afghanistan's intelligence agency has accused Hamid Gilani, the leader of National Islamic Front of Afghanistan political party, of having links with militant group Haqqani network.

AVA- The allegation comes after Hamid Gilani, son of late High Peace Council chief, said that the Taliban leadership is based in Afghanistan, not Pakistan. Gilani further said that the otherwide claim is made to cover up what he said 'failure' to defeat the Taliban.

Rahmatullah Nabil, former head of Afghanistan’s intelligence agency National Directorate of Security, said that Gilani had carried in his vehicle for several times a notorious Haqqani militant, identified as Sherkhan, from Islamabad to Kabul in collusion with a key National Unity Government figure.

The militant figure was helped to meet with Anas Haqqani, son of Jalaluddin Haqqani, founder of Haqqani network, who is currently in custody. Nabil said that the circle is seeking to release the prisoner.

Nabil suggested that Hamid Gilani’s recent remarks on Taliban leadership were made on dictation from Pakistan.
