Jawzjan MP Fahima Sadat dies of heart attack in Balkh province
An Afghan lawmaker representing the northern Jawzjan province in the Lower House of the Afghan Parliament, Wolesi Jirga, Fahima Sadat, died of a heart attack.
According to the local officials in northern Balkh province of Afghanistan have confirmed that the lawmaker died of a heart attack in Mazar-e-Sharif city.
Sources close to the family of the lawmaker have also confirmed that she died of a heart attack in Mazar-e-Sharif city last night.
Sadat was one of the prominent lawmakers in the Lower House of the Parliament and was a member of the parliamentary commission for education, religious and Cultural Affairs.
The former governor of Balkh province and Chief Executive of Jamiat Islami Ata Mohammad Noor also confirmed the demise of the lawmaker by posting online statement to offer condolences regarding her death.
Reports regarding the death of Fahima Sadat emerge at a night when preparations are underway regarding the upcoming parliamentary and district councils elections.
However, it is yet not clear if the lawmaker was willing to run for the upcoming elections on behalf of Jawzjan or not
