Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate: Banning women
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate, in response to the United Nations resolution on banning women's work, has said in a statement that the issue of banning women's work is an internal issue of Afghanistan.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate published a newsletter today (Saturday, April 29, 2023) in response to the United Nations Security Council resolution banning women from working for this organization, stressing that this decision is an "internal issue of Afghanistan." which has no effect on foreign countries".
 
In this resolution, the United Nations Security Council called for the "rapid cancellation" of restrictions on women and called on "all governments and organizations to use their influence".
 
But the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement: "We are committed to providing all the rights of Afghan women, and at the same time we emphasize that diversity should be respected, not politicized."
 
In this statement, other parts of the resolution including the commitment to territorial integrity, independence and national unity of Afghanistan have been welcomed.
 
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said: "The road to recovery after the war requires the unconditional removal of UN, multilateral and unilateral sanctions and restrictions against the country and the provision of humanitarian and development aid to the country."
 
The ministry added: "The current humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan is man-made and is caused by economic restrictions in this country.”While humanitarian assistance is appreciated, the reality is that this ongoing crisis can only be resolved by lifting restrictions on the country and helping Afghanistan address the basic climate change, economic, infrastructure and development needs of its people."
 
Regarding the fact that "engagement is the only realistic way", the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: "We are ready to cooperate with neighboring countries and regional and global organizations to deal with Afghanistan's challenges."
