NATO expands its missions in Iraq
The NATO mission in Iraq announced that it is developing its missions in the field of "consultation and empowerment" in this country.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The representative office of the "North Atlantic Treaty Organization" (NATO) in Iraq announced in a statement the expansion of its activities in this country.
 
According to the Rodav Network website, according to the statement of this office, these activities will include "consulting and empowering the forces affiliated with the Iraqi Ministry of Interior and the Federal Police Command".
 
The NATO delegation also claimed that the decision to expand its activities was made at the request of the Iraqi authorities and the decision of the NATO Council on August 17.
 
In this regard, "Jose Antonio Aguero Martinez", the commander of NATO in Iraq, after the meeting of this organization, met with Qasim al-Aarji, the national security advisor of Iraq, and discussed with him about NATO's decision.
 
The issue of the expansion of NATO activities was also discussed at the meeting of this organization in Lithuania on the pretext of the request of the Iraqi authorities. NATO leaders in Lithuania said that they are committed to supporting Iraq in order to achieve stability in this country.
 
The issue of "fighting ISIS" is considered to be the main justification for NATO to expand its presence in Iraq; While the Iraqi authorities have repeatedly announced that ISIS is no longer considered a threat.
 
Sabah al-Nu'man, the spokesman of Iraq's anti-terrorism unit, said in an Egyptian TV program on 18 Asad that in the eyes of the Iraqi forces and this group, the Takfiri and terrorist group ISIS is no longer considered a big threat and does not pose a threat to Iraq's national security.

The NATO office in Baghdad was established in 2018 and stated its purpose to provide advice to Iraqi military and security officials in the Ministry of Defense, the Office of the National Security Adviser, the National Operations Center (attached to the Prime Minister's Office).
