The first Muslim mosque in Ghazni is being renovated by the Aga Khan Foundation
The Directorate of Information and Culture of the Islamic Emirate in Ghazni Province has announced the start of the restoration of the historic Babaji Mosque "the first mosque of Muslims in Ghazni" by the Aga Khan Cultural Foundation in this province.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Ghazni: The Department of Information and Culture of the Islamic Emirate in Ghazni Province has published a newsletter saying that the restoration work of the historic Babaji Mosque has begun.
 
According to the news, Fazal Karim Ahmadi, the head of the Aga Khan Cultural Foundation office in Ghazni, said that this foundation has undertaken the preliminary work of strengthening this mosque in the current year to prevent the possibility of its collapse in the coming winter.
 
He added that the complete reconstruction plan of this mosque is ready for the beginning of next year.
 
It should be mentioned that Babaji historical mosque is one of the important historical buildings in Ghazni.
 
According to historians, this mosque has more than a thousand years of history and is the first mosque in this province that was built after the spread of Islam in this territory.
 
It should be mentioned that this historic mosque has been damaged due to natural disasters in recent years and according to the officials, there is a possibility of it collapsing if there is no fundamental reconstruction.
