Israeli protesters demand ceasefire, return of captives
The families of Israeli captives held by Palestinian resistance fighters have once denounced the Zionist regime under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for delaying a deal with Hamas.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Monitoring: In a statement on Saturday night, the families said that “victory will not be achieved by destroying Hamas but by returning the captives”, according to the Palestinian Sama news agency.
Netanyahu is only looking for delay and is thinking about his personal interests as the time is running out to get the captives freed, the statement said.
The families once again accused the far-right cabinet of Netanyahu of not caring about the lives of their loved ones as its military keeps going ahead with the ground invasion of Gaza. “We want all the prisoners to be returned alive and we do not want them in coffins”.
On Saturday night, fresh demonstrations against the Zionist regime were also held in Tel Aviv as well as the occupied cities of al-Quds and Haifa.
Protesters reportedly gathered in front of the Ministry of War to demand a ceasefire agreement and exchange of prisoners with Hamas. They also blocked some streets and surrounded a car convoy of the prime minister in al-Quds.
Netanyahu has been facing criticisms for weeks for allegedly attempting to delay or putting obstacle to the ongoing ceasefire negotiations. Channel 13 of the Zionist regime reported on Saturday that a number of cabinet members also criticized Netanyahu's stance, saying he has no serious intention to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and free the captives.
Netanyahu is in hot water ever since his re-election over a host of scandal and graft charges, but the Al-Aqsa Storm Operation by the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas on October 7 deepened the divide between the Israeli public and the governing regime.
Over the past several months, Israelis have held a number of demonstrations against Netanyahu and his cabinet over their policies, especially with regard to Gaza and demanding the prime minister resign and hold a fresh election./IRNA
