Holding a meeting of national security advisers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Kazakhstan
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan has announced the holding of the 19th round of the meeting of national security advisers of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in this country.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan announced that the country will host the 19th meeting of the National Security Advisors of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on Tuesday.

According to the announcement of this ministry, the fight against terrorism, extremism, separatism and drugs is one of the axes of this two-day meeting.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization was founded in 1996 by the leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan with the aim of establishing a balance against US and NATO influence in the region.

In addition to the main members, Mongolia first joined the organization in 2004 and a year later Iran, Pakistan, India and Afghanistan in 2005 and then Belarus as an observer member.

On September 17, 2021, with the visit of Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi to Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, and participation in the summit, this organization agreed to Iran's membership, and on July 4, 2023, the official membership of the Islamic Republic of Iran in this organization was approved and announced in India.

The role of this organization has increased in the region since its establishment. This organization, unlike the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the former Warsaw Pact, is not yet considered a multilateral defense treaty.
