Jet2.com, a British low cost airline, sent an email to an unverified number of passengers and informed them of the airline’s decision to cancel their flights.

"We regret that, in light of the decision taken by the Israeli authorities, we are unable to accept you for carriage to Israel on this occasion and your booking with Jet2.com has been cancelled," the company said.

Jet2.com has been joined by Lufthansa, Air France and Easyjet in canceling the tickets of suspected ‘flytilla’ participants on the orders of Israel with more airlines expected to follow suit.

One critic argues that Israel’s position is unsurprising. The real issue is the compliance of the countries that allowed their citizens to be mistreated.

“It is disgusting that Israel now is sieging the European countries, not only the Gaza Strip. They order the governments in some European countries not to allow their citizens to fly from their countries to Israel,” Zaher Birawi from Palestinian Forum in Britain told Press TV.

Organizers of the flytilla to Palestine were expected to gather at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv on Sunday.

The “Welcome to Palestine 2012” campaigners planned to visit the West Bank city of Bethlehem as well as other Palestinian cities in the territory.

Activists from Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the US were among the flytilla.
