Soldier from Alabama 1 of 2 killed in Afghanistan
A 25-year-old Alabama native is one of two soldiers killed in an enemy bombing attack on their vehicle in Afghanistan.

The Defense Department says Sgt. James L. Skalberg Jr., who was stationed at Fort Bliss, died in the Wednesday attack in the city of Maidan Shahr, the capital of Wardak province in the mountains of eastern Afghanistan.

Also killed was 24-year-old 1st Lt. Stephen C. Parasnicki of Lexington, Va.

Skalberg was assigned to 4th Battalion, 1st Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division from Fort Bliss, Texas. Prasnicki served with 4th Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team from Warner Barracks in Bamberg, Germany.(AP)
