Celebrating "World Press Freedom Day" in Badakhshan
From May 3rd, "World Press Freedom Day" was celebrated by the Department of Information and Culture of Badakhshan Province and the Union of Independent Journalists of this province.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Mazar-Sharif: Zabihullah Amiri, head of information and culture of Badakhshan province, said at the ceremony celebrating the World Press Freedom Day in this province: the government has always supported the activities of the media in the country, especially Badakhshan province, that's why It does. It is for the media to stand by the government of the Islamic Emirates and honestly convey the message of the people to the officials and the officials to the people.

He added: "Private media are active alongside government media in Badakhshan province and are not discriminated or censored."

He stated that in the past, the media of Badakhshan province were under the monopoly, authority and censorship of people, individuals and groups, but now it can operate freely according to Sharia principles.

On the other hand, Merajuddin Rahimi, the provincial official of the Union of Free Journalists in Badakhshan province, said: We welcome the way the authorities deal with journalists and media activity, and the media work situation is satisfactory and improving.

He admitted that the Department of Information and Culture of Badakhshan province should search more in the interpretation of the law on the right of access to information for officials so that journalists and media can perform better activities.

At the same time, a number of speakers of this event said: A reporter has the mission of a prophet and media activity is very important in the country, therefore it is worthy to be honest and truthful in journalistic activities and observed media and lead people towards brotherhood. 

It should be noted that at the end of this ceremony, the World Press Freedom Day "cake" was cut in the presence of journalists, local media officials, and local government officials of Badakhshan province.
