Hussain Amir Abdullahian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, met and talked with the President of Azerbaijan, Elham Aliyev, on the sidelines of the "Non-Alignment Movement" foreign ministers' meeting, which is being held in Baku.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Iran's Foreign Minister, who has gone to Azerbaijan to participate in the Non-Alignment Movement's Foreign Ministers' Meeting, before noon today (Wednesday, July 05, 2023) on the sidelines of this meeting with Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev.
 
According to Iran Press, in this meeting, it was said that the officials of these two countries discussed the relations between Iran and Azerbaijan and solving the challenges.
 
Iran and Azerbaijan have had close relations in recent years; Azerbaijan has always been condemned by the Islamic Republic of Iran due to its close relationship with Israel.
 
On the other hand, the government of Azerbaijan is accused of massive violations of the rights of the Shia majority in this country in the past years.
 
The meeting of foreign ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement started this morning in Baku under the chairmanship of Ilham Aliyev. The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Foreign Ministers' Meeting titled "Non-Aligned Movement: United and Firm in Facing Emerging Challenges" hosted by the Republic of Azerbaijan is being held today and tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday, 14th and 15th, in Baku, the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
