The Security Council approved the resolution "immediately sending aid to Gaza" without asking for a ceasefire
The UN Security Council, after three postponements in voting and deliberations and the verbal sparring of diplomats, finally passed a resolution yesterday with 13 votes in favor and two abstentions without any opposition, which calls for immediate aid to Gaza and the creation of conditions for a permanent ceasefire. There have been hostilities (conflicts).
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): After a week of deliberations and verbal sparring of diplomats over the wording of the proposed resolution on Gaza, the UN Security Council finally approved a resolution with 13 positive votes and two abstentions without any opposition.

The United Nations Security Council approved the resolution number 2720 to help Gaza on Friday local time equal to 1st Jedi 1402 and 22 December 2023 after a week of conflict with 13 positive votes and the United States and Russia as the two permanent members of this council voted for it. They abstained and none of the 15 members of the Security Council opposed it.

The 13 members of the Security Council who voted in favor of this resolution are: Albania, Brazil, Ecuador, Gabon, Ghana, Japan, Malta, Mozambique, Switzerland, UAE, China, France and England.

The UN Security Council has 15 members, 5 of which are permanent and have the right to veto, and the other 10 are non-permanent. The permanent members of the Security Council are: America, Russia, France, China and England.

The United States has announced that it supports the latest draft of the Security Council resolution on Gaza. In this resolution, the request for a "temporary ceasefire" is refused. The approved resolution of the Security Council calls on all parties to facilitate and enable the "immediate, safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid in bulk" directly to Palestinian civilians and allows the Zionist regime to control the delivery of aid to Gaza. .

The resolution also calls on the parties to "create conditions for a lasting cessation of hostilities." The first version called for an end to the war, while the second called for a "suspension" of the war to provide aid.

The resolution also calls on the parties to facilitate "the use of all available routes across the Gaza Strip" to send aid. The resolution also called on the UN Secretary-General to appoint an authority to oversee the delivery of aid and to establish a UN mechanism to expedite aid. This represents another difference from the original text. The initial draft requested the UN Secretary-General to establish a binding mechanism for rapid aid.

The approved Security Council resolution also calls for the release of the "hostages" and the entry of sufficient fuel into Gaza to meet humanitarian needs.

In other words, from the point of view of international analysts, it can be said that in the public meeting of the Security Council on Friday, the United States vetoed any suspension or immediate cease-fire and a resolution was passed in the Security Council that continued to allow the Israeli regime to continue. It carries out its attacks without fear of international punishment.

Russia: America included the permission to kill the people of Gaza in the text of the resolution

Russia's ambassador and representative to the United Nations, Vassily Nebenzia, said that Washington is playing a game to include permission to kill Palestinian civilians by Israel. The United States is touring the region, but not to promote peace, as my American colleague said, but to ensure Washington's short-term interests.

The Russian ambassador to the United Nations added: Colleagues, if this document was not supported by a number of Arab countries, we would have vetoed it.

This senior diplomat of Vladimir Putin's government stated: At the same time, we know that some of the drafters of this resolution, including the Arab countries, withdrew their support for it, but we always believe that the Arab world is capable of making its own decisions and accepting full responsibility for it, and only This is because we do not prevent the approval of this document.

At the same time, the American-Israeli Axios website, quoting Washington and Tel Aviv officials, announced: Security Council resolution negotiations were held at a high level with the participation of White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and Foreign Minister Anthony Blinken.

Previously, diplomatic sources told IRNA's UN correspondent that the addition of phrases such as "immediate steps" to create a basis for a "sustainable cessation of hostilities" in the resolution was effective in America's decision to support this resolution.

According to diplomatic sources, the resolution now includes "immediate steps to immediately provide safe and unhindered access to humanitarian aid, as well as create conditions for a lasting cessation of hostilities."

At the start of the voting session on Friday, Russia's ambassador and representative to the United Nations, Vassily Nebenzia, said that the US opposition to the initial draft resolution, which led to several days of negotiations, presented an "ineffective" and "neutral" draft.

He particularly criticized the weak tone and language of the resolution, which called for the creation of "conditions for a lasting cessation of hostilities," saying that the resolution fails to stop the fighting and gives Israel a "free hand" to continue its operations.

Russia's representative introduced an amendment to the resolution calling for a "suspension" of the war to allow more access to aid. This amendment called for a "suspension" of the conflict in Gaza in order to provide humanitarian aid in the area.

In the voting held in the Security Council, 10 out of 15 members of the Security Council voted in favor of this amendment. 4 members abstained and America was the only country that didHe voted against this amendment using his veto right.

Linda Thomas Greenfield, the American ambassador to the United Nations, announced that Washington is ready to support the resolution that calls for increasing aid to the Gaza Strip.

Referring to the US's consultations with other countries, including the United Arab Emirates and Egypt, the US ambassador to the United Nations added that a hard and diligent effort was made to "reach a resolution that we can support."

US President Joe Biden also told reporters: "We are negotiating at the United Nations about the framework of a resolution that we might be able to agree to."

The United States of America, on 17 December 2023 (December 8, 2023), as a permanent member of the Security Council, rejected the resolution proposed by the United Arab Emirates, which was based on the request of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, to establish a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, despite obtaining 13 votes in favor in this council.

On October 15, 2023, the Palestinian resistance groups launched a surprise operation called "Al-Aqsa Storm" from Gaza (southern Palestine) against the positions of the Israeli regime. Between Israel and Hamas, a four-day temporary truce was established, or a pause for the exchange of prisoners between Hamas and Israel.

This pause in the war continued for 7 days and finally on the morning of Friday 10th of December 2023, the temporary ceasefire ended and the Israeli regime resumed attacks on Gaza. In order to retaliate for the surprise attacks of the "Al-Aqsa storm" and to compensate for its failure and stop the resistance operations, this regime has closed all the crossings of the Gaza Strip and is bombarding this area.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Ramallah announced on Friday that since October 7, the number of victims of Israeli attacks in Gaza has exceeded 20,000.
