Afghanistan to sign long term strategic pact with China
Afghanistan is looking to sign a long term strategic cooperation agreement long term strategic cooperation agreement with China and other Shanghai Cooperation Organization members bearing in mind the growing influence of China in the region.

Jawid Lodeen deputy Afghan foreign affairs minister quoted by BBC said the strategic pact with China is vital for Afghanistan and will not have any negative impacts over Afghan-US strategic pact.

Mr. Lodeen said Afghan president Hamid Karzai is expected to share the strategic pact with China during his visit to Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in this country next month.

According to statistical reports China exports reach approximately to $2 billion annually however Afghanistan’s export to China is less than $100 million a year.

In the meantime China has invested in major natural resources of Afghanistan and the country is expected to build the longest railway network in Afghanistan. (Khaama)
