Afghan Special Forces destroy large amounts of explosives, narcotics in Helmand
The Afghan Special Forces conducted separate operations in southern Helmand province and destroyed large amounts of explosives and narcotics.
In Nahr-e Saraj district an Afghan special forces operation destroyed a large amount of explosive materials,” the military officials said Saturday.
The sources further added that Special Forces conducted a similar raid in Marjah district and destroyed 250kgs of narcotics.
They also destroyed 2 vehicles and a weapons cache during the same operation.
This comes as the security situation in some districts of Helmand has deteriorated during the recent months.
Taliban militants are active in the restive areas of Helmand and often conduct terrorist related activities.
In the meantime, the Afghan forces are busy conducting counter-terrorism operations against the anti-government armed groups in the two province.
The U.S. forces also conduct regular airstrikes in restive parts of the country to suppress Taliban and other anti-government militants
