Residents in Afghan village starving as Taliban block roads
Residents in a village in north Afghanistan are starving as Taliban insurgents have blocked roads leading to it.
AVA- At least one child has been reported to have died due to hunger, and a woman losing her life due to illness in Sar Hauz village of Pashtunkot district.
Images posted on social media recently show villagers slaughtering a horse to use its meat for survival in the village where more than 500 families reside. Horse meat is rarely used in the country.
Few days ago, commando forces were also seen sharing their foods with the villagers.
Members of the parliament criticized the government for failing to dismantle militants and address the problem.
They also said that the Taliban seize food aid meant for the villagers.
Bashir Ahmad Tayenj, an MP representing Faryab, warned that if the problem in Pashtunkot is not addressed soon, militants would expand their grip to surrounding districts.
The Interior Ministry said that an operation was ongoing in Faryab districts, saying the Taliban would be dismantled soon.
