The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) has agreed to provide funding for seven new welfare projects under the Afghanistan Humanitarian Trust Fund.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_Monitoring, The Islamic Development Bank’s governors and delegations from its member countries on Sunday participated in the annual meeting held in Jeddah and made the decision to fund several development projects in Afghanistan.
These projects are aimed at improving nutritional and healthcare services for children and mothers in remote rural areas of Afghanistan as well as tackling the problem of waterborne diseases like cholera through the provision of solar-powered water systems, according to the Arab news agency.
Two of the projects, worth $2 million, were signed with UNICEF which will help to provide nutritional services and clean drinking water to thousands of vulnerable children in southern Kandahar province and other parts of Afghanistan.
UNICEF has said through these projects, the organization will provide safe drinking water to some 32,000 people in rural parts of Afghanistan.
Another project was signed with the International Organization for Migration to provide safe drinking water for more than 13,000 people in different parts of the country.
While signing these agreements, Mohammed Al-Jasser, IsDB president and chairman, said “These schemes are testimony to the most effective and collaborative team efforts.”
He healthfully thanked Saudi Arabia for contributing $30 million to the fund through the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the governments of Algeria Kuwait, Malaysia and Turkey for their contributions.
He further added that work had already begun on the next batch of projects funded by the Saudi Fund for Development.
