Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Islamic scholars have said in a meeting with the Acting Ministers of Education and Higher Education of the Islamic Emirate that education is an "Islamic obligation" for men and women.
The announcement of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation states: "In these meetings, both sides emphasized that education is an Islamic obligation for men and women with the consensus of the Ummah's scholars."
According to the announcement of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the delegation of Muslim scholars has also heard the report of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the Islamic Emirate regarding the revision of curricula and the creation of a safe environment for girls' education throughout the country.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation also added that Tariq Ali Bakhit, the representative of the Secretary General of this organization in Afghanistan affairs, had a discussion with Amir Khan Muttaqi, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate, about the results of the visit of the delegation of Muslim scholars to Afghanistan.
According to the announcement of this organization, Muslim scholars have held numerous meetings with scholars and officials of the Islamic Emirate on very important issues "for the organization, including tolerance in Islam, girls' education and women's work."
This is despite the fact that the authorities of the Islamic Emirate have repeatedly announced that they are working on the plan to reopen schools and universities for girls.
