The Syrian President arrived in Beijing on an official visit on Thursday at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart.

According to Al Arabiya, China is the third non-Arab country that Assad has visited since 2011.
 
The Syrian president had visited Russia and Iran before China.
 
The visit was made in response to the official invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
 
Recently, "Al-Akhbar" newspaper, quoting informed sources, reported about Assad's imminent trip. This Lebanese media wrote that the topic of the talks will be the development of bilateral relations between Damascus and Beijing.
 
According to this report, considering China's role in helping Syria to overcome the economic crisis, the Syrian authorities have said that this trip will be "very important" and that Assad will meet with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, in an official ceremony.
 
The Syrian President's visit will be a strategic turning point in the relationship between Damascus and Beijing, as well as another strong sign of China's role in the West Asian region; The position that began after Beijing played a role in achieving reconciliation between Saudi Arabia and Iran this spring, and the path of this role-making continued with the holding of three meetings for the Chinese president in Saudi Arabia during December 2022.
