Iran, Jordan Agree on Main Points of UN Draft Resolution on Gaza
The foreign ministers of Iran and Jordan agreed that a United Nations resolution on the Israeli war on Gaza needs to include three main points, including an immediate ceasefire.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Monitoring: In a meeting on the sidelines of an emergency meeting of the UN General Assembly on Gaza, held in New York on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hussain Amir Abdullahian and his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi talked about the draft resolution of the UN General Assembly on ending the Israeli regime’s crimes against Palestinians.

The top Iranian diplomat emphasized that the draft resolution must contain three main points, including an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the constant delivery of humanitarian aid supplies to people of Gaza, and preventing the forced displacement of Gazans from the enclave.

The Jordanian foreign minister, for his part, condemned the Zionist regime’s strikes against the Palestinian people, saying he agreed that the Brazil-led draft resolution on Gaza should include the three points cited by Amirabdollahian.

The two foreign ministers also stressed the need for cooperation among the Muslim countries in support of the rights of Palestinians.

After multiple failed attempts to pass resolutions on the Israeli war on Gaza at the UN Security Council, Malta’s UN Ambassador Vanessa Frazier has said the 10 elected members of the Council plan to put together a new draft.

The UNSC can adopt a resolution only if at least nine of its 15 members, including the five permanent ones, vote in favor of it and no veto is used by one of those five. A shortage of favorable votes and a veto from the United States has kept resolutions from manifesting so far.

On October 18, Brazil drafted a resolution on the crisis whose main points include humanitarian pauses for full and unhindered aid into Gaza, condemnation of violence against all civilians, and rescission of the Israeli regime’s evacuation order.

At least 7,028 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since October 7, as the Zionist regime promises to continue raids into Palestinian territories./Tasnim news
