Qatar Calls for Emmediate Protection of Civilians in Gaza War
Emir of Qatar stressed the need for the protection of civilians in the Gaza war and emphasized the immediate implementation of a ceasefire.
Sheikh Tamim Al Thani conveyed these remarks during a meeting with Antony Blinken, the U.S. Secretary of State, who is currently in Doha.
Sheikh Tamim highlighted the necessity of efforts to establish an immediate ceasefire between the Israeli regime and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, as well as the protection of non-combatants in this conflict.
He deemed providing sufficient and sustainable humanitarian aid to all areas of the Gaza Strip as an urgent need. Qatar’s emir emphasizes the ceasefire in Gaza, mentioning previous mediated talks between Hamas and Israel through Qatar and Egypt.
However, he notes that recent Israeli attacks on Beirut, resulting in the death of a senior Hamas member, have led to a more confrontational stance from Hamas towards Israel, creating new challenges in the mediation process.
