Any initiative about Afghanistan without the support of the Islamic Emirate is "doomed to failure"
Referring to the failure of the Doha meeting hosted by the United Nations, Maria Zakharova, the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stressed that any initiative on Afghanistan without the support of the Islamic Emirate and the countries of the region is "doomed to failure."
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: According to the Russian news agency Ryanovsi, Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, said that the meeting of the special representatives of the countries, which was hosted by Antonio Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations, was held in Doha. He faced "failure".

Zakharova said that no decision was taken in this meeting according to the previously announced plans, including the appointment of a special representative and the creation of a small contact group for Afghanistan.

According to him, such issues have been put on the agenda "without proper explanation".

The spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that any initiative regarding Afghanistan without the support of the Islamic Emirate and the countries of the region is "doomed to failure."

Maria Zakharova added: "The Taliban refused to participate in the meeting due to the humiliating conditions caused by the fact that only minor events related to the fugitive Afghan civil society envoys were allowed."

According to him, the representative of Russia refused to meet Afghan civil society activists at the Doha meeting as a "sign of solidarity" with the Islamic Emirate.

At the Doha meeting, which was held on Sunday and Monday of this week, hosted by the Secretary General of the United Nations, five civil society activists represented Afghanistan.

The Islamic Emirate was also invited to this meeting, but they refused to participate in it due to the non-acceptance of their conditions.

Consistent interaction with Afghanistan was one of the goals of the Doha meeting, in accordance with the "independent assessment of Afghanistan".

According to the resolution of the Security Council, a special representative was expected to be appointed by the United Nations for Afghanistan affairs, but at the end of the meeting, Antonio Guterres announced that he would consult for the appointment of such a representative.
