The International Court of Justice ordered Israel to end the famine in Gaza
The International Court of Justice unanimously ordered Israel, which is accused by South Africa of genocide in Gaza, to take all necessary and effective measures to ensure the provision of basic food for the Palestinian population in the region and to stop the spread of famine.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): According to Reuters news agency, this order was issued on Thursday (March 28) while on the same day, Israeli forces and Palestinian armed men engaged in a close battle around al-Shafa hospital in Gaza.

The United Nations has reported that 100% of Gaza's population of 2.3 million people are at extreme levels of food insecurity.

According to the United Nations and international aid groups, Israel's military restrictions, ongoing hostilities and disruption of public order have prevented aid from being sent.

In its legally binding ruling, the International Court of Justice told Israel to "take all necessary and effective measures to provide without delay and in full cooperation with the United Nations" the basic services and humanitarian aid urgently needed by the people of Gaza, including food, water, fuel and health equipment to reach them.

The World Court also ordered Israel to immediately ensure that "its troops do not commit acts that constitute violations of the rights of Palestinians in Gaza as a protected group under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide."

In the order of this international court, it is stated: "The court observes that the Palestinians in Gaza are no longer facing the danger of famine... but rather that famine is occurring."

According to the Associated Press news agency, the International Court of Justice told Israel to report to this court in one month about the implementation of these orders.

The new court order was requested by South Africa as part of the country's ongoing case accusing Israel of "state genocide in Gaza".

The UN Security Council voted on Tuesday to demand an immediate cease-fire from Israel in Gaza and the immediate and unconditional release of all Israeli hostages. The United States abstained from voting on the resolution but did not veto it.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel has not yet commented on the verdict of the International Court of Justice.

Israel has said it is trying to expand humanitarian access to Gaza by land, air and sea.

The armed branches of the extremist groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad said on Thursday that they attacked Israeli soldiers and tanks with rockets and mortars near this hospital.

Hamas is considered a terrorist group by the United States and the European Union.

These clashes continue while the International Court of Justice chiefs said that Palestinians in Gaza are facing worse conditions and famine is spreading.

But at the same time, the Israeli army has continued its operations after its attack on al-Shafa hospital in Gaza City more than a week ago.

The statement of the Israeli army states that since the beginning of this operation, Israeli forces "killed about 200 armed men and at the same time prevented harm to civilians, patients, medical teams and medical equipment."

According to Reuters, the Gaza Ministry of Health reports that the wounded and sick are kept inside an office building in Al-Shafa hospital complex, which is not equipped to provide them with health services.

The Hamas-controlled ministry said five patients have died since the start of the new Israeli offensive due to lack of food, water and medical care.

Al-Shafa was the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip before the war and one of the few medical centers that was active until recently.

The Gaza Ministry of Health announced on Thursday that at least 32,552 Palestinians have been killed and 74,980 wounded since the beginning of Israel's military attack on the Gaza Strip after the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.

According to news agencies, thousands more are believed to be buried under the rubble.

More than 80% of Gaza's 2.3 million people are displaced, many of whom are starving.

The war began after Hamas militants crossed the border and attacked residents of southern Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking 253 captives, according to Israeli statistics.
