Palestine is one step towards full membership in the United Nations; Will America veto?!
Palestine is one step away from being recognized as an independent state and full membership in the United Nations. The United Nations Security Council is supposed to vote on Palestine's request for full membership in this organization today, Friday (April 19), of course, if the United States, the main ally of the Zionist regime, does not veto this vote.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: The Security Council, consisting of 15 members, is supposed to draft a resolution at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, which proposes to the United Nations General Assembly that "the State of Palestine be accepted as a member of the United Nations." will vote
This draft resolution needs at least nine positive votes from the members of the UN Security Council to be approved, while none of the five veto-wielding countries of the United States, Britain, France, Russia and China should oppose it.
According to diplomats, this draft resolution has the support of 13 members of the Security Council, which forces the United States to use its veto.
Algeria, which as one of the periodic members of the Security Council, prepared the draft of this resolution, requested that the vote on it be held today, Thursday, at the same time as the Security Council meeting on the Middle East, in which the ministers of the countries are also present.
America has emphasized that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state should be done through direct negotiations between the parties and not in the United Nations.
Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the United States ambassador to the United Nations, also said on Wednesday (April 17): "We do not believe that the adoption of a resolution in the Security Council can necessarily bring us to a place where we can implement a two-state solution."
