Chief Executive Abdullah Urges UN to Impose Sanctions on Taliban Leaders
Afghan Chief Executive, Abdullah Abdullah has urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to impose sanctions on Taliban leaders including Mullah Haibatullah, CE office said in a statement.

AVA- CE Abdullah held a meeting with the UNSC’s sanctions committee head Kairat Umarov in Kabul, the statement said.

The statement further added that Abdullah noted the Taliban group has always killed the innocent Afghan people and they should be considered as terrorists.

In the meantime, UNSC’s sanctions committee head Kairat Umarov also said the UN Security Council is committed on eliminating security threats in Afghanistan and supports the Afghan government in fight against Taliban group.

After the announcement of US new strategy toward Afghanistan by U.S. President Donald Trump, now the Afghan government is trying to put more pressures on Taliban to become ready for peace talks with the government.
