Intelligence operatives have killed 16 commanders of the Haqqani network and wounded 11 others during a targeted operation in southeastern Paktia province, the spy service said on Wednesday.

The National Directorate of security (NDS) said in a statement five vehicles and nine motorbikes of the militant group were also destroyed during the raid in Janikhel district.
The statement added the slain commanders included Haji Mullah, Mullah Asad, Fidai, Khatar Nank and Ayubi. There has been no reaction yet either from the Haqqani network or the Taliban.
