The results were originally due to be announced on November 10.
Syed Hafizullah Hashimy, a spokesman for the Independent Election Commission, said that results from polling in provinces will be announced on November 23. Results from Kabul will be out later on first day of next month, he said.
Hashimy cited troubles in “filtering and transportation” of ballots over the delay.
Mohammad Yosuf Rashid, head of Free and Fair Election Forum of Afghanistan, however, criticized “weak management” in the IEC for the delay.
Afghanistan’s long-delayed parliamentary elections were held in all but one province of the country last month. Late opening of polling stations, lack of election materials and the failure of many of the biometric voter verification devices were among complaints registered from the election.
More than 4.2 million people voted in the election - 48 percent of those who registered, IEC said.
