At least sixteen members of the suicide squad of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria Khurasan (ISIS-K) were killed during an operation of the Afghan armed forces in eastern Nangarhar province.
The provincial government media office in a statement said the members of the terror group were killed in Achin district.
The statement further added that a commander of the terror group identified as Khetab Bajwari was among those killed.
According to the provincial government, the operation was conducted by 02 Unit of the Afghan armed forces in Bandar area of the district.
The militants were mainly involved in planning and coordinated suicide attacks in Afghanistan, the provincial government added in its statement.
The anti-government armed militant and terrorist groups including ISIS-K loyalists have not commented regarding the killing of the militants so far.
Nangarhar is among the relatively calm provinces in the East but both Taliban and ISIS Khurasan militants are active in some of its districts and often attempt to carry out attacks against the government and security forces.
