UN adds Pakistan-based JeM leader Masood Azhar to Global Terror List
The United Nations has added the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) Islamist group to its list of global terrorists.

The action against Azhar was announced by sanctions committee of the United Nations on Wednesday, 1st of May, citing his ties to Al-Qaeda terrorist network.
According to a statement released by sanctions committee, Azhar is linked to terrorism for “participating in the financing, planning, facilitating, preparing, or perpetrating of acts or activities” carried out by JeM.
The sanction move will include a freeze on Azhar’s international assets, a ban on global travel, and an arms embargo.
The sanctions were imposed after China ended moves to block the action to blacklist Azhar. China had earlier blocked three attempts at the sanctions committee to blacklist Azhar.
The country had put a technical hold on a fourth request from Britain, France and the United States in March.
