Explosion rocks Herat in west of Afghanistan Killing 4, wounding 21 Afghan civilians
Four people were killed and 21 others were wounded as a result of a mine explosion embedded to a motorcycle in the 12th district of Herat.
At least four civilians were killed and 21 more wounded as a result of an IED explosion in the western city of Herat on Monday evening, the provincial police said.  
Police said the explosion happened in a populated Hazara residing district; Mahalle Haji Abbas; in the city of Herat around 6:30 pm on Monday. 
 The IED was embedded to a motorbike and was detonated in Haji Abbas vicinity in police district 12 (PD12) of the city. 
The attack, which took place around 6:30 pm, targeted Jamshidi, the criminal officer of Ghorian district. According to eyewitnesses, the blast occurred when Mr Jamshidi and his family were passing Haji Abbas neighborhood market in a car. Mr Jamshidi was not injured in the incident.
 "The death toll may rise,” said Farzad Frotan, acting head of the media department of Herat Police Headquarters. 
 Majority of the victims are local business owners, he said.
