Afghan forces repel Taliban attack on Pul-i-Khumri city: MoD
Afghan forces have repelled Taliban attack on Pul-i-Khumri, capital of Baghlan province in north Afghanistan, the country's defense ministry said on Sunday.

The attack on Pul-i-Khumri city happened a day after the insurgents stormed Kunduz city before they were pushed back by Afghan forces.
Javed Basharat, a spokesman for Baghlan police, said that insurgents attacked Pul-i-Khumri from several directions in bid to seize the city.
He said that four Taliban militants were killed in counterattack and several others were captured.
Nasrat Rahimi, a spokesman for Interior Ministry, said that the militants had taken positon in two areas of Pul-i-Khumri city.
He said that special forces were dispatched to the areas and that the militants were under siege.
Syed Safdar Muhsini, a provincial council member in Baghlan, said that the Taliban fighters were one kilometer from provincial governor's office.
The attacks on two major Afghan cities come as US and Taliban have said that they are close to an agreement following nine rounds of talks
