Parliament Members Criticize Release of Haqqani Members
The House of Representatives on Wednesday strongly criticized the release of three members of the Haqqani network by the government.

While members of the house of representatives say the Attorney General of Afghanistan, Farid Hamidi, should be summoned to the legislative body to answer questions about the release of these Haqqani prisoners, the House Speaker Mir Rahman Rahmani says Anas Haqqani, Mali Khan and Hafiz Rashid have been released “based on the country's laws.”
Members of the house of representatives criticized the government decision with some saying it is an act of treason.
“If it were an excuse for peace, would the 850 prisoners released be not enough to start a negotiation? That is still unclear? Now the privilege for the national treason was given,” said Nilofar Ibrahimi, MP.
“The Attorney General of Afghanistan should be summoned and must give a report on the issue,” said Hamayoun Shaheedzada, MP
On the other hand, speaker of the house Rahmani said that the key members of the Haqqani were released based on the law.
“Because all the files of these prisoners have been processed through legal procedures and institutions such as the Supreme Court, the attorney general’s office, and the security institutions—many people have been informed,” said Rahmani, speaker of the house.
Thee House Speaker said there has been no consultation made with the house of representatives on forming of peace delegations and he says the peace and state minister in peace affairs should be summoned to the house of representatives and asked about the peace talks and the delegation that will be formed give explanations.
