Afghanistan may need over $100 million to fight coronavirus: minister
Fight against coronavirus in Afghanistan may require more than $100 million, its health minister said on Sunday.
Currently, the government has allocated $25 million for the fight against the virus.
Public Health Minister Ferozuddin Feroz said that the fund was not enough to fight the virus.
The minister was speaking in Nangarhar province where he inaugurated a laboratory for coronavirus testing.
The laboratory is third to be opened in the country with the other two being in capital Kabul and western Herat province.
The lab could test 100 samples in one day, Feroz said.
He said that the capacity of Kabul laboratory would be boosted from 100 to 300 tests every day.
A total of 120 coronavirus cases and three deaths related to it have been confirmed in Afghanistan. Nangarhar has seen one case.
