Fifteen Afghan security forces have been killed in Taliban attacks in northern provinces of Balkh and Kunduz, officials said Tuesday.
In Balkh, militants attacked a local police post in Piaz Kar area of Balkh district around 11:40 p.m. Monday, killing six police and wounding another, said Munir Ahmad Farhad, a spokesman for provincial governor.
He said that Taliban also suffered casualties, without providing an exact figure.
In Kunduz, nine pro-government forces were killed in a clash with Taliban militants in Dasht-i-Archi district. Three others were wounded, said Esmatullah Muradi, a spokesman for provincial governor.
The attacks come as the government said on Monday that the past week was the deadliest in the past 19 years. 291 Afghan forces were killed during the week, it said.
