Six Afghan civilians killed in Pakistan shelling in Kunar
Six civilians were killed in rocket attacks by Pakistani military in Afghanistan's Kunar province on Wednesday, Afghan officials said.
Nine others were wounded in the shelling, the provincial governor’s office said in a statement.
It happened as Pakistani security forces were erecting a fence along Durand Line when they opened fire on an Afghan security check post in Sarkano district.
"When Afghan forces returned fire, they (Pakistani forces) started using heavy artillery to shell the villages in Sarkano district,” Kunar governor spokesman Abdul Ghani Mosamim was quoted by AFP as saying.
Afghan foreign ministry in a statement condemned the shelling.
It said that Pakistan agreed to stop the shelling as a result of diplomatic efforts and to meet with Afghan officials.
It said that such attacks and building installations along Durand Line were unacceptable and could create tensions between the two countries.
